Canva Alternatives for Arabic Designs and Videos in 2026: A Fair Comparison
Need a Canva alternative for Arabic? Canva, Adobe Express, Microsoft Designer, CapCut, ChatGPT and Vocla compared on Arabic text, video and price.
In this article
Canva is still the best all-rounder for most people, and it handles typed Arabic and right-to-left layouts well. The best Canva alternative for Arabic depends on the job: Adobe Express for templates, CapCut for video editing, ChatGPT for quick ideas. If you want AI posters with correct Arabic text that become a video with a dialect voiceover and Arabic captions, Vocla does that in one place.
01How to choose a Canva alternative for Arabic
Most lists of Canva alternatives are written for English designers, with Arabic as a footnote. Yet Arabic is exactly where design tools trip up: letters that must join, text that runs right to left, a price tag with numbers in the middle of a sentence, and a voiceover that should sound like your customers rather than a news bulletin.
So let's start fairly. Canva itself handles Arabic well: you type in Arabic fonts, the text runs right to left, and its translate tool even has an option to mirror a page for right-to-left languages. If Canva already does what you need, you may not need an alternative at all. The real question is which job you are trying to get done. Check these six criteria:
- 1Typed Arabic: can you type and edit Arabic in proper fonts, with correct joining and right-to-left alignment?
- 2AI with Arabic text: when AI generates the image, does the Arabic headline come out readable, or as shapes that only look like letters?
- 3Templates and layout: do you need ready templates, multi-page documents, presentations or print files?
- 4Video and voice: will the design become a Reel or TikTok ad, and does it need an Arabic voiceover in a dialect plus Arabic captions?
- 5Commercial use: which plan first lets you use the result in ads and client work?
- 6Price: what does month one cost, and is the AI allowance enough for what you actually make?
With those in mind, here are the six tools people in the region compare most: Canva, Adobe Express, Microsoft Designer, CapCut, ChatGPT and Vocla. We say plainly where each is strong, including the jobs where Vocla is not the right pick.
02Comparison table: six tools for Arabic design
This table summarises what each vendor's official pages said as of November 2026. There are no scores or stars: Arabic lettering and taste are judged on your own design, not on a chart.
| Tool | Arabic text | AI generation | Video and voice | Entry price and licence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canva | Type Arabic in Arabic fonts; the translate tool can mirror a page for right-to-left languages | Canva AI lists Arabic among its languages; a monthly AI allowance, tighter on Free | Video editor and video templates | Free plan with 1.6M+ templates; Pro listed at US$144 a year for one person (US price) |
| Adobe Express | Arabic with right-to-left layout, announced in September 2026 | Generative credits: limited on Free, 250 a month on Premium | Video templates | Free; Premium US$9.99 a month |
| Microsoft Designer | Its FAQ warns text in generated images may be misspelled or in another language | Images and designs from a prompt | Not a video tool | Free with a Microsoft account; personal, non-commercial use |
| CapCut | Auto captions list Arabic among supported languages | AI tools inside the editor | Its core strength: video editing and captions | Free tier; paid prices vary by account and country |
| ChatGPT | Arabic lettering varies by prompt and attempt | Images inside the chat | No video editing | Limited image creation on Free; more on Go and Plus |
| Vocla | Text «in quotes» is drawn into the image letter for letter, Arabic included | Image studio with presets, 1 to 4 images per run, edit, background removal, enhance | Make it a video: an ad with a dialect voiceover and Arabic captions | No free image studio; Starter US$4.99 a month with commercial rights |

03Canva: still the best all-rounder, and solid with Arabic
For most people Canva is the default, and for good reasons. Its Free plan lists more than 1,000 design types and over 1.6 million templates, and Pro raises that to over 3.6 million templates, adds AI tools such as resize, translate and background removal, five brand kits and social scheduling. For Arabic, the essentials are there: you pick from the fonts for your language, type the headline yourself, and every letter is correct because it is typed rather than drawn by AI. Canva AI also lists Arabic among its supported languages.
- Pick it when: you want a template to customise, a multi-page document, a presentation, a printed flyer or menu, or a team brand kit with your logo and colours.
- Keep in mind: AI use is capped by a monthly allowance, tighter on Free. We found no Canva statement on how its image generator handles Arabic lettering inside images, so test it, or generate a background without text and type the headline on top.
- Pricing as of November 2026: Free costs nothing; Pro is listed at US$144 a year for one person in the US, and Canva sets prices that reflect local conditions in some countries.
You don't have to pick only one tool. A practical split: generate the hero image or product shot with AI, cut out its background as a transparent PNG, then finish a multi-page menu or deck in Canva.
04Vocla: AI designs with correct Arabic text that become videos
Vocla is not a template editor. It is an Arabic-first AI studio for voice, video and images, and that shapes where it wins. On the Images page you describe what you want in Arabic or English, and anything you put «between quotes» is drawn into the image letter for letter, joined Arabic letters and numbers included. Presets set the shape for a poster or ad, an Instagram post, a story, a YouTube thumbnail, a product photo, a logo or a podcast cover.
A brief like this is enough: an ad poster for a specialty café, a cup on white marble in soft morning light, with the headline «قهوة الصباح» and below it «خصم 20% حتى الخميس». Press Improve to turn a short idea into a detailed prompt, and make up to four versions in one run to compare.
- Arabic headlines from a prompt: the quotes rule, a free Improve button, and four qualities from fast Lite drafts to Pro, the strongest at lettering.
- Photo tools in the same studio: Edit with one sentence (from Creator at $13.99), Remove background for a transparent PNG, and Enhance to 2K, or 4K from Professional.
- Make it a video: send any image to Vocla Video, which writes the ad script, voices it in Saudi, Emirati, Kuwaiti, Egyptian, Jordanian, Lebanese or MSA Arabic, and adds Arabic captions. This is where a design tool usually stops and Vocla keeps going.
- Price and rights: the studio starts on Starter at $4.99 a month with 5,000 credits and commercial rights. Credits are shared with voice and video, and images that fail are refunded.
Where Vocla is weaker: no template library, no editable text layers or font picker once the image is made, no multi-page documents, presentations or print-ready layouts, no brand kits, and no free image tier. To change one word you regenerate or use Edit. For those jobs Canva or Adobe Express will serve you better.
05Adobe Express, Microsoft Designer, CapCut and ChatGPT
Adobe Express is the closest like-for-like Canva alternative: templates, quick edits and Adobe's generative AI in one web app. Its Free plan includes a large template library and limited generative credits, and Premium costs US$9.99 a month with 250 generative credits. The news for Arabic speakers is recent: Adobe's community post on its August highlights, published September 10, 2026, says Express is now available in Arabic with full right-to-left layout on desktop, iOS and Android web. If you tried it before and gave up, it deserves a fresh test.
Microsoft Designer is free with a Microsoft account and generates images and designs from a prompt. Two limits matter for business: Microsoft's FAQ says Designer is licensed for personal, non-commercial use, and it warns that text in generated images may not be in the requested language or may have spelling errors. Fine for a family greeting, not for a client's ad.
CapCut is a video editor first, and a strong one for Reels and TikTok. Its help pages list Arabic among the languages for auto captions, and it has templates and AI tools inside the editor. Paid prices differ by account and country, so check the in-app upgrade screen, and check each template's licence before using it in an ad. If you edit in CapCut and need an Arabic voiceover, we covered that separately.
ChatGPT is the quickest way to brainstorm: write the ad copy and ask for the image in the same chat. OpenAI's pricing page lists limited image creation on Free, more on Go, and more complex and accurate image creation on Plus. Short Arabic headlines often come out right, but not every time, especially with prices and longer lines.
06Which tool fits your project?
| Your project | Usually the best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Restaurant menu or flyer for print | Canva or Adobe Express | Templates, typed Arabic text and print-friendly layouts |
| Pitch deck or multi-page report in Arabic | Canva | Presentations, documents and a brand kit |
| Instagram or Snapchat ad with an Arabic headline, from a description | Vocla | Quoted Arabic text drawn into the image, ad and story presets |
| Product shot on a new background, or a transparent PNG | Vocla or Canva | Both remove backgrounds; Vocla edits the scene with one sentence |
| A poster that becomes a Reel with a Saudi or Egyptian voiceover | Vocla | Make it a video: dialect voice and Arabic captions in one place |
| Editing footage you already filmed | CapCut | A full video editor with Arabic auto captions |
| A quick personal greeting | Microsoft Designer or ChatGPT | Free; proofread the Arabic before sharing |

07Run your own 20-minute test
A list is only a starting point; your own brief decides. Take one real job, such as a poster for this week's offer, and run it through two or three tools:
- 1Write one brief with a short Arabic headline and a price, for example «قهوة الصباح» and «خصم 20%».
- 2Generate it with each tool's AI, and in Canva also type the headline yourself over a generated background.
- 3Check the letters: joined correctly, right to left, numbers intact, no stray shapes?
- 4Time the fix: how long did it take to correct one wrong word?
- 5Make it move: turn the best design into a 15-second vertical video with a voiceover, and count the steps and tools it took.
For the voiceover, use a line in your customers' dialect rather than formal Arabic. Here is one in Saudi Arabic:
صباحك قهوة! كوب قهوة الصباح الحين بخصم عشرين بالمية.
العرض لين الخميس، مرّنا وجرّب.Good morning, coffee time! Your morning coffee is now 20% off. The offer runs until Thursday, so drop by and try it.
Before you pay for any tool, check what its licence allows for ads and client work, and browse our other head-to-head comparisons.
Key takeaways
- Canva is still the best all-rounder and handles typed Arabic and right-to-left layouts well, so you may not need to switch.
- Adobe Express added Arabic with right-to-left layout in 2026, CapCut leads on video editing, and ChatGPT is quick for ideas.
- Vocla wins when AI should write the Arabic headline into the image and the design should become a video with a dialect voiceover and Arabic captions.
- For templates, print, presentations and brand kits, Canva or Adobe Express is the better pick; test one real brief before paying.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free Canva alternative for Arabic?
Adobe Express and Microsoft Designer have free tiers, and Canva Free itself is generous. Microsoft Designer is licensed for personal, non-commercial use, so check each licence before using designs in ads. Vocla's image studio is paid, from Starter at $4.99 a month with commercial rights.
Does Canva support Arabic?
Yes. You can type Arabic in Arabic fonts, Canva AI lists Arabic among its languages, and its translate tool can mirror a page for right-to-left languages. If letters show as boxes, Canva's help suggests picking a font from the fonts for your language.
Which AI writes Arabic text in images correctly?
Image models have improved a lot, but results still vary by prompt and attempt. In Vocla, text you put in quotes is sent to the model letter for letter, and the Pro quality is the strongest at lettering. Always proofread prices and names before you publish.
Can I turn a design into a video with an Arabic voiceover?
In Vocla, press Make it a video on any image: it writes the ad, voices it in the dialect you pick and adds Arabic captions. On Starter you get 30 seconds of video a month, 720p vertical with a watermark; Professional gives 300 seconds in 1080p without a watermark.
Can I use Vocla and Canva together?
Yes, and it is often the most practical setup. Make the AI image or transparent PNG in Vocla, then lay it out in Canva for a menu, deck or print file. Check each tool's licence for commercial use.
