Chapter 1

Why the Saudi dialect matters

Saudi Arabia is the largest market in the Gulf, and Saudi listeners notice within a second whether a voice is talking to them or reading at them. Fusha is right for official and formal content; for anything meant to persuade, welcome or help, the dialect is what makes a brand sound local.

  • It sounds like a local brand

An offer, a delivery update or a phone greeting in Saudi dialect sounds like it comes from a company in the Kingdom, not a translated campaign.

  • One accent, understood nationwide

A Najdi-leaning, everyday Saudi accent is the broadly understood base heard in national ads and media, from Riyadh to Jeddah and the Eastern Province.

  • Built for social video

Snapchat is unusually popular in Saudi Arabia, alongside TikTok, YouTube and X. Short videos with a Saudi voiceover feel native in those feeds.

  • Fusha still has its place

Keep Modern Standard Arabic for government-style notices, legal text and content aimed at several Arab countries. Use the dialect for marketing and service.

Saudi Arabia has more than one dialect

Najdi (centre)
Riyadh and Qassim. The base of the 'white' Saudi most national brands use: «وش», «أبي», «الحين».
Hijazi (west)
Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah. Urban and distinct: «ايش», «مرة», «دحين» for 'now'.
Eastern Province
Dammam and Al-Ahsa. Close to Kuwaiti and Bahraini Gulf speech.
South and north
Asir, Jazan, Hail and the north each have their own vocabulary and melody.

Vocla's Saudi voices speak the broadly understood, everyday Saudi accent. If your campaign targets Jeddah only, write Hijazi words in the script: the voice says what you write, while the accent stays general Saudi.

Chapter 2

How to generate a Saudi voice in Vocla, step by step

From a blank script to a downloadable file in six steps. You can do all of it on the Free plan to test, then move to a paid plan for commercial use.

  1. 1

Write the script in Saudi dialect, not Fusha

The voice reads what you write. «ماذا تريد الآن؟» stays formal even in a Saudi voice; «وش تبغى الحين؟» sounds Saudi. Write the way your customer talks, with short sentences and commas where you want a breath.

  2. 2

Pick a Saudi voice from the library

Open the voice library and filter by Saudi, or start from the Saudi dialect page. Play the samples and choose by job: a confident voice for ads, a calm one for corporate and phone menus, a lively one for characters and social videos.

  3. 3

Choose Saudi in the dialect picker

In the text-to-speech editor, set the dialect to Saudi. Vocla adds a native-accent instruction to the generation, so the delivery stays Saudi from the first line to the last instead of drifting toward a neutral accent.

  4. 4

Tune pace and clarity, then fix names

Slow the pace slightly for phone menus and long offers, raise it for hooks. Add brand names, neighbourhoods and product names to the pronunciation dictionary once, and every voice reads them the same way. Add tashkeel to any word that can be read two ways.

  5. 5

Generate and download MP3 or WAV

Generate a take, listen, adjust a word or two and generate again. Download MP3 on any plan, or WAV on paid plans from Starter up, for editing, broadcast and phone systems.

  6. 6

    Put it to work

Drop the file into your ad, record it as your IVR greeting, use it as the voiceover of a TikTok or Snapchat video, or keep going with dubbing and AI video in the same workspace.

Chapter 3

Fusha vs Saudi dialect: the same message, side by side

Here is how a script changes when you rewrite it in the dialect. The Saudi version is what you paste into Vocla.

  • Ad hook
    Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha)

ماذا تنتظر؟ العرض متاح الآن لفترة محدودة، فلا تفوّته.

    Saudi dialect

وش تنتظر؟ العرض الحين لفترة محدودة، لا يفوتك!

Meaning: What are you waiting for? The offer is on now for a limited time, don't miss it!

  • Booking
    Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha)

أريد أن أحجز موعدًا صباح الغد، هل يمكنني ذلك؟

    Saudi dialect

أبغى أحجز موعد بكرة الصبح، يمديني؟

Meaning: I want to book an appointment tomorrow morning. Can I?

  • Product
    Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha)

هذا التطبيق جيد جدًا، ويوفّر عليك الكثير من الوقت.

    Saudi dialect

التطبيق هذا زين مرة، ويوفّر عليك وقت كثير.

Meaning: This app is really good, and it saves you a lot of time.

«وش» and «أبي» lean Najdi; «ايش» and «مرة» are heard more in Hijaz. Both are understood everywhere in the Kingdom, so pick one style and keep it for the whole script.

Chapter 5

Tips for a natural Saudi voiceover

Small writing habits make the biggest difference to how Saudi the result sounds.

  • Numbers and prices in riyals

Vocla reads digits, so «٢٠٠ ريال» or «200 ريال» both work. When the exact colloquial reading matters, write the amount in words the way a Saudi would say it, for example «ميتين ريال».

  • English brand names

Mixing English product and brand names into Arabic is normal in Saudi ads. Keep them in Latin letters, or add the Arabic spelling you want to the pronunciation dictionary.

  • One dialect per script

Don't mix Saudi with Egyptian or Levantine words in the same script. Listeners hear the switch straight away, and so does the voice.

  • Short lines for phone menus

One instruction per sentence and the key number at the end: «لخدمة العملاء اضغط اثنين». Callers remember the last thing they hear.

  • Phone numbers and codes

Write phone numbers in groups with spaces, like «800 123 4567», so they are read at a pace people can write down.

  • Test two voices

Generate the same script with two Saudi voices before you commit. A hook that sounds flat in one voice often lands in another.

Chapter 8

Frequently asked questions

Can AI really generate a Saudi accent?

Yes. Pick a Saudi voice, write the script in Saudi dialect and choose Saudi in the dialect picker; Vocla adds a native-accent instruction so the delivery stays Saudi. Play the samples on the Saudi dialect page to hear the voices before you sign up.

Do the voices sound Najdi or Hijazi?

They speak the everyday, Najdi-leaning Saudi accent that is understood across the Kingdom. If you write Hijazi words such as «ايش» or «دحين», the voice says them, but the overall accent stays general Saudi.

Should I write my script in Fusha or Saudi dialect?

Write it in Saudi dialect if you want a Saudi-sounding result. The voice reads what you write, so a Fusha script stays formal even in a Saudi voice. Keep Fusha for official notices and content aimed at several countries.

Can I use the Saudi voiceover in paid ads?

Yes, on a paid plan. Commercial use is included from Starter ($4.99/month) up; the Free plan is for personal testing.

How does it read prices in riyals and English brand names?

Digits are read as numbers, and English names written in Latin letters stay in English. For an exact colloquial reading, write the amount in words; for a brand name that keeps being misread, add it to the pronunciation dictionary.

Can I clone my own Saudi voice?

Yes. Voice cloning is included on paid plans from Starter. You need the speaker's consent, and the cloned voice keeps their accent, so a Saudi speaker gives you a Saudi clone.
