Chapter 1

Why the Emirati dialect matters

The UAE is home to many nationalities, so a lot of advertising defaults to English, Fusha or a vague Gulf accent. An Emirati voice is the choice when a brand wants to sound rooted in the country and speak to Emiratis and long-time residents in their own register.

  • It sounds rooted in the UAE

Campaigns, hospitality, events and service messages in Emirati dialect sound like they come from a local brand, not a regional one.

  • Dubai and Abu Dhabi audiences

Real estate, retail, tourism and service brands in Dubai and Abu Dhabi use Emirati voices to stand out in a market full of English and Fusha ads.

  • A Gulf neighbour everyone understands

Emirati sits close to Kuwaiti, Qatari and Bahraini speech, so listeners across the Gulf follow it easily while UAE audiences hear it as their own.

  • English and Arabic, mixed

UAE ads often mix English words and brand names into Arabic. Vocla reads mixed scripts, so «اطلب أونلاين» and an English brand name sit naturally in one line.

The Emirati dialect is not one voice

Abu Dhabi and Al Ain
Inland and Bedouin-influenced speech, often heard as the most traditional Emirati.
Dubai and Sharjah
Coastal and urban, with more English mixed into everyday talk.
Northern emirates and east coast
Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah have their own words and melody.
Shared Emirati sounds
«ج» often becomes «ي» (يديد for 'new'), and «ك» can soften toward 'ch' (جي for 'like this').

Vocla's Emirati voices speak a broadly understood, everyday Emirati accent. Write local words the way they are said, such as «يديد» or «وايد», and the voice keeps them local.

Chapter 2

How to generate an Emirati voice in Vocla, step by step

From a blank script to a downloadable file in six steps. Test everything on the Free plan, then move to a paid plan for commercial use.

  1. 1

Write the script in Emirati dialect, not Fusha

The voice reads what you write. «ماذا تريد الآن؟» stays formal even in an Emirati voice; «شو تبا الحين؟» sounds Emirati. Write the way your customer talks, short sentences, commas where you want a breath.

  2. 2

Pick an Emirati voice from the library

Open the voice library and filter by Emirati, or start from the Emirati dialect page. Play the samples and choose by job: polished for corporate and hospitality, relaxed for social content, warm for podcasts and interviews.

  3. 3

Choose Emirati in the dialect picker

In the text-to-speech editor, set the dialect to Emirati. Vocla adds a native-accent instruction to the generation, so the delivery stays Emirati for the whole take instead of drifting toward a generic Gulf accent.

  4. 4

Tune pace and clarity, then fix names

Slow down slightly for phone menus, speed up for hooks. Add brand names, districts and malls to the pronunciation dictionary once, and every voice reads them the same way. Add tashkeel to place names that can be read two ways.

  5. 5

Generate and download MP3 or WAV

Generate a take, listen, change a word if needed and generate again. Download MP3 on any plan, or WAV on paid plans from Starter up, for editing, broadcast and phone systems.

  6. 6

    Put it to work

Use the file in your campaign, as your IVR greeting, as the voiceover of a TikTok or Instagram video, or continue with dubbing and AI video in the same workspace.

Chapter 3

Fusha vs Emirati dialect: the same message, side by side

Here is how a script changes when you rewrite it in Emirati. The Emirati version is what you paste into Vocla.

  • Ad hook
    Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha)

ماذا تنتظر؟ العرض متاح الآن لفترة محدودة، فلا تفوّته.

    Emirati dialect

شو تنتظر؟ العرض الحين لفترة محدودة، لا يفوتك!

Meaning: What are you waiting for? The offer is on now for a limited time, don't miss it!

  • Booking
    Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha)

أريد أن أحجز موعدًا غدًا لكي أنتهي قبل العمل.

    Emirati dialect

أبا أحجز موعد باكر عسب أخلّص قبل الدوام.

Meaning: I want to book an appointment tomorrow so I'm done before work.

  • Product
    Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha)

    هذا التطبيق جيد جدًا، وليس معقدًا أبدًا.

    Emirati dialect

هالتطبيق وايد زين، ومب معقّد أبد.

Meaning: This app is really good, and it's not complicated at all.

Emirati shares many words with other Gulf dialects («زين», «الحين»), but «شو», «عسب», «مب» and «شحالك» mark it as Emirati. Keep one style for the whole script.

Chapter 5

Tips for a natural Emirati voiceover

Small writing habits make the biggest difference to how Emirati the result sounds.

  • Numbers and prices in dirhams

Vocla reads digits, so «٢٠٠ درهم» or «200 درهم» both work. When the exact colloquial reading matters, write the amount in words, for example «ميتين درهم».

  • Mixing English and Arabic

English words such as «أونلاين» and brand names are normal in UAE ads. Keep brand names in Latin letters, and add any that keep being misread to the pronunciation dictionary.

  • Spell Emirati sounds as spoken

Write «يديد», not «جديد», and «وايد», not «كثير», when you want the local sound. The voice follows the spelling.

  • Short lines for phone menus

One instruction per sentence, with the key number at the end: «حق خدمة العملاء اضغط اثنين». Callers remember the last thing they hear.

  • Phone numbers and codes

Write numbers in groups with spaces, like «800 123 4567», so they are read at a pace people can write down.

  • Emirati or Fusha for mixed audiences

If the audience includes many Arab expatriates and the message is informational, test the same script in Emirati and in Fusha and compare.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI generate a real Emirati accent?

Yes. Pick an Emirati voice, write the script in Emirati dialect and choose Emirati in the dialect picker; Vocla adds a native-accent instruction so the delivery stays Emirati. Play the samples on the Emirati dialect page before you sign up.

Is an Emirati voice understood outside the UAE?

Yes. Gulf listeners in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman understand Emirati easily. It simply sounds more local to audiences in the UAE.

Can I mix English words into an Emirati script?

Yes. Mixed scripts are common in the UAE and Vocla reads them. Keep English brand names in Latin letters and add any tricky name to the pronunciation dictionary.

Should I use Emirati or Fusha for a mixed audience?

For campaigns and greetings aimed at Emiratis and long-time residents, Emirati works well. For formal or informational content aimed at all Arab residents, Fusha is often safer. Test both with the same script.

Can I use the Emirati voiceover commercially?

Yes, on a paid plan. Commercial use is included from Starter ($4.99/month) up; the Free plan is for personal testing.

Which file formats can I download?

MP3 on every plan and WAV from Starter up. For phone systems, the IVR page explains how to convert files to telephony formats.
