Scripts for auditioning male voices
Each script asks for a different tone. Generate the same one with two male voices and compare before you commit.
Documentary opening
Modern Standard Arabicقبل ألفي عام، مرّت القوافل من هذا الوادي محمّلة بالبخور والتوابل. اليوم لم يبقَ منها سوى نقوش على الصخر، تحكي لمن يتأمّلها قصة طريق غيّر وجه التجارة في العالم القديم.
What it says: Two thousand years ago, caravans passed through this valley loaded with incense and spices. Today nothing remains of them but carvings on the rock, telling anyone who looks closely the story of a road that changed trade in the ancient world.
Car ad
Saudi Arabicتبغى سيارة تشيل العايلة وتمشي معك في البر؟ الحين تقدر تجرّبها بنفسك. احجز تجربة القيادة من معرضنا في الرياض، وشوف ليش الكل يسأل عنها.
What it says: Want a car that carries the family and goes off-road with you? Now you can try it yourself. Book a test drive at our Riyadh showroom and see why everyone is asking about it.
Match recap
Egyptian Arabicماتش النهارده كان حاجة تانية خالص! هدفين في أول عشر دقايق، وبعد كده الفريق قفل اللعب ومحدّش عرف يعدّي. عايز تعرف إزاي كسبوها؟ خليك معايا.
What it says: Today's match was something else entirely! Two goals in the first ten minutes, then the team shut the game down and nobody could get through. Want to know how they won it? Stay with me.
Every recording is real Vocla output in a public library voice, published unedited.
The problem
'A male voice' is not a brief
When a client writes 'we want a male voice' in the brief, nothing has been decided yet.
Between a deep voice in its fifties telling the history of a city and a fast voice in its twenties calling a ninetieth-minute goal, the gap is wider than the gap between many male and female voices.
The common mistake is choosing the deepest voice on the list because it sounds grand. A very deep voice gets lost on a phone speaker, weighs down a fifteen-second ad, and makes a simple walkthrough of a banking app sound like a film trailer.
Then comes the dialect. An excellent voice in Modern Standard Arabic may convince nobody when it reads a script written in Saudi or Egyptian Arabic. You need a voice made for that dialect, not a formal voice attempting it.
Why Vocla
What Vocla offers in male voices
Male voices of different ages and tones
The voice library filters by gender, dialect and style. Within the male voices you can hear the difference between mature and calm, mid-range and clear, young and quick, and judge by ear before you generate.
Dialects that read the script as written
Modern Standard Arabic and 18 dialects, including Saudi, Egyptian, Emirati, Kuwaiti, Iraqi and Moroccan. An ad written the way people in Najd speak is delivered in that rhythm, not in the rhythm of a news bulletin.
Tone is tuned after the voice is chosen
High stability gives gravity and composure; high expressiveness gives energy. One voice can handle a financial report in the morning and an offer ad in the evening.
Numbers and names said correctly
Automotive, finance and sport are full of model names, players and indices. Save them in the pronunciation dictionary and add tashkeel to anything ambiguous; tashkeel marks do not count toward your credits.
Your own voice, if you prefer
From Starter you can clone your own voice from a sample of at least 10 seconds, or the voice of someone who has given you written permission. Cloning a presenter or a public figure is not allowed.
How it works
How to choose the right male voice for your script
Step 1
Define the role before the voice
Ask who is speaking: an expert who reassures, a friend who advises, or a commentator who gets excited? The answer cuts the list to three or four voices.
Step 2
Filter the library by dialect, then by style
Choose the dialect first because it is the hardest thing to compensate for, then the style: documentary, advertising, corporate or conversational.
Step 3
Test on the hardest sentence in the script
Do not audition on a greeting. Take the sentence with a number, a foreign name and some emotion in it, and generate it with each candidate.
Step 4
Listen on a phone speaker, with the music
A voice that sounds imposing on studio headphones can vanish under music on a phone. Lay the clip over its real backing track, then judge.
Step 5
Play it to someone from the target audience
One opinion from the group you are addressing is worth more than the whole team's taste. After that, lock the voice and settings for the rest of the campaign.

Cost
What a male voice-over costs
Cost follows the number of characters and the model you choose: every 1,000 characters, about one spoken minute, uses from 800 to 1,200 credits. That means running a full script through four voices costs four times as much, so compare voices on a single sentence rather than the whole script.
The Free plan's 500͏ credits a month are enough for those comparisons, but they are for personal use. Once the voice goes into an ad or a client video you need Starter at $4.99 a month or higher, which includes commercial rights, WAV export and voice cloning.

Questions people ask
What is the best Arabic male voice for ads?
There is no single voice for every ad. For a local ad, start with a voice from the advertising category in your audience's dialect and generate the first line of your ad with two or three of them. The right one stays clear over music and on a phone speaker; it is not necessarily the deepest.
Is there a deep Arabic male voice for documentaries?
Yes, the library has mature male voices in Modern Standard Arabic categorised for narration and documentary. For a composed delivery, raise stability, slow the pace slightly and add pauses between sentences. Write in medium-length sentences, because very long ones weaken any voice.
Can I switch the same script from a male to a female voice?
Yes. The script stays as it is; you change the voice and generate again, and the characters are counted again. It is a good way to test two versions of the same ad. In Arabic, watch the masculine and feminine forms if the script is written in the speaker's own voice.
Are male voices available in Saudi and Egyptian Arabic?
The library has male voices in Modern Standard Arabic and in dialects including Saudi, Egyptian, Emirati, Kuwaiti and Lebanese. Write the script in that dialect with its real vocabulary; a formal script does not turn into a dialect just because you picked a voice from a certain country.
Can I clone a famous voice-over artist's voice?
No. Voice cloning in Vocla is allowed for your own voice or for someone who has given you written permission, and imitating celebrities, presenters or public figures is not permitted. If you like a certain style, look in the library for a voice with a similar character and adjust speed and expressiveness.
Is a male voice better than a female voice for advertising?
There is no fixed rule. Some sectors have conventions, but they shift from one country and one audience to another. The practical route is to generate the ad with both voices, play them to a sample of your audience or test them in a small campaign, then decide on the result.
