Quick answer

You can make a Jordanian Arabic voice over with AI in Vocla: write the script in real Jordanian, using هسّا (now), بدّي (I want), إشي (thing) and إحنا (we), then open Text to speech, choose Jordanian in the dialect picker and a Jordanian voice from the Levantine voices page. Preview, fix names and numbers with tashkeel or the pronunciation dictionary, and download MP3 or WAV.

01Jordanian Arabic within the Levantine family

Jordanian Arabic belongs to the Levantine group, alongside Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian. Levantine speakers understand each other easily and share a lot of everyday words: شو (what), بدّي (I want), كتير (a lot), هيك (like this), منيح (good). Yet a listener in Amman can tell within one sentence whether a voice is Jordanian or Lebanese, the same way someone from Riyadh spots a Kuwaiti accent.

That is why asking for a generic Levantine voice is not quite enough for a Jordan-facing ad. Local promotions, call-center greetings for Jordanian customers and courses for Jordanian students all land better when the audience hears its own dialect. In Vocla, Jordanian and Lebanese voices sit together on the Levantine voices page, but each voice is tagged with its dialect, so you can choose Jordanian specifically.

This guide covers what sets Jordanian apart from its neighbours, how to write a script that reads as genuinely Jordanian, where a Jordanian voice works best, and five copy-ready scripts. For the full picture across every Arabic dialect, see our main guide:

02How Jordanian differs from Lebanese and Palestinian

Differences inside the Levant are mostly small, but they are exactly what makes a listener think this person is one of us. The table shows the clearest markers in everyday speech. Every dialect here varies a lot between cities, villages, Bedouin communities and generations, so treat these as common urban patterns:

MeaningJordanian (Amman)Lebanese (Beirut)Note
nowهسّا، هلّأهلّقهسّا is a strong Jordanian and Palestinian marker
weإحنانحناHeard in almost every script
thingإشيشيإشي is Jordanian and Palestinian

thereهناكهونيكهون (here) is shared
yesآه، أكيدإيهLebanese leans on إيه
I wantبدّيبدّيShared across the Levant
a lotكتيركتيرShared

Pronunciation adds two more signals. First, ق: many Jordanians say it as a hard g, as in گال (he said), which is common in rural and Bedouin speech and among many men in the cities, while many city speakers use a glottal stop, as in Amman, Beirut and Damascus. Second, vowel colouring: Lebanese tends to raise the final vowel of feminine words towards an e sound, while Jordanian keeps a more open a in many words.

Palestinian Arabic is very close to Jordanian, for a well-known reason: a large share of Jordan's population has Palestinian roots, and Jordanian cities hear both dialects every day. هسّا, إشي and إحنا are shared; the differences show up more in pronunciation and some vocabulary than in grammar. An urban Jordanian script therefore sits comfortably with Jordanian audiences of either background.

Heads-up

Don't blend the two. A script with هلّق, إشي and كرمال together sounds neither Jordanian nor Lebanese. Pick your audience's dialect and write in it from the first line to the last.

03Writing a script that sounds genuinely Jordanian

A good Jordanian script sounds like someone from Amman talking to a friend, not like a translation from formal Arabic. The rules that matter most:

  • Spell colloquial words as said: هسّا, إشي, منيح, هيك, not the formal الآن, شيء, جيد, هكذا. The voice reads exactly what you write.
  • Write ق as ق: the Jordanian voice handles it in its own style. If you want an explicit g on a key word, preview it and fix it in the Pronunciation dictionary if needed.
  • Negate with مش and ما: مش غالي (not expensive), ما في رسوم (no fees), ما بتندم (you won't regret it), not the formal ليس or لا يوجد.
  • Mark the future with رح: رح توصلك (it will reach you), rather than formal سوف.
  • Use warm phrases sparingly: يعطيك العافية (a classic thank-you), أهلين (hi), ولا يهمك (no worries) give a script Jordanian warmth, but one or two are plenty.
  • Spell out numbers: بخمسة دنانير (for five dinars) and تلاتين بالمية (thirty percent) instead of 5 JD and 30%, so they are read the Jordanian way.

Here is the same line in Modern Standard Arabic and in Jordanian:

Modern Standard Arabic

نحن الآن في عمّان، ولدينا شيء جديد نريد أن نريك إياه، فلا تفوّت الفرصة.

Jordanian

إحنا هسّا بعمّان، وعنا إشي جديد بدنا نفرجيك إياه، فلا تفوّت الفرصة.

Modern Standard Arabic

لا توجد رسوم توصيل، وسيصلك طلبك خلال ساعة.

Jordanian

ما في رسوم توصيل، وطلبك رح يوصلك خلال ساعة.

Notice that فلا تفوّت الفرصة (don't miss the chance) barely changed in the first example. Jordanian ads genuinely use that phrase, so there is no need to colloquialise every word. The goal is natural, not forced slang.

04Where a Jordanian voice works best

The general rule holds: choose the dialect of the place where the audio will be heard. In Jordan, three uses benefit most from a Jordanian voice over a generic Levantine one or formal Arabic:

  • Local ads: restaurants, retail, real estate, delivery apps and telecoms. Any spot with an offer in Amman, Irbid or Zarqa gains from hearing هسّا and بدّك.
  • E-learning: lesson explainers and course intros for Jordanian students. Jordanian gives a close, friendly tone, while technical terms can stay in formal Arabic or English the way students actually use them.
  • Customer service and IVR: welcome lines, hold messages and after-hours messages in the caller's dialect make the call feel less formal. Many banks and public bodies keep menus in MSA with a warmer greeting.

When should you pick something else? A campaign for the whole Levant may need a Jordanian and a Lebanese version, and formal, legal or medical content is safer in MSA. For the Lebanese market specifically, we have a separate guide:

Tip

Adjust the days and hours in the after-hours message to your actual schedule. And يعطيك العافية is warm and familiar in Jordan, but don't repeat it in every IVR prompt.

06Making a Jordanian voiceover without a studio

  1. 1Write and read aloud: Any line that feels heavy to say will feel heavy to hear. If the ad has a fixed length, check timing with the voiceover length calculator.
  2. 2Open Text to speech: Paste the script, choose Jordanian in the dialect picker, then pick a Jordanian voice from the Voice library by tone.
  3. 3Preview and listen: Check ق, numbers, place names and brand names, and fix anything with tashkeel or the Pronunciation dictionary.
  4. 4Tune the delivery: Adjust speed, expressiveness and clarity. Ads want more energy; lessons and IVR want calm and clarity.
  5. 5Download or make a video: MP3 on every plan, WAV on paid plans. For video, use the Video studio with the same voice and burned-in Arabic captions.

Not sure which voice to pick? The Levantine voices page groups the Jordanian and Lebanese voices with samples you can play first:

The Free plan gives you 500 credits a month for personal use and testing. For ads or any commercial use, the Starter plan starts at $4.99 a month with 5,000 credits and commercial rights. Tashkeel marks never count toward credits, so vowel ambiguous words freely.

07Common mistakes in Jordanian scripts

  • A Lebanese script in a Jordanian voice: هلّق, كرمال and نحنا in a script for Jordanians reveal that the writer is not from there.
  • Formal Arabic with one colloquial word: احصل الآن على خصمك، يعطيك العافية is a formal script with a Jordanian stamp, and listeners notice.
  • Overloading the slang: يا زلمة, والله and ولك in every line turn the script into a caricature. A good ad uses one or two touches.
  • Numbers as symbols: 10 JD can be read several ways, so write عشرة دنانير.
  • Relying on one writer: five minutes with a Jordanian listener from your target audience catches what no checklist will.

Dialect descriptions reflect common urban usage in modern media as of October 2026. Jordanian Arabic varies between cities, villages and Bedouin communities, and pronunciation differs by speaker, region and generation, so always check scripts with native listeners from your audience.

Key takeaways

  • Jordanian is a Levantine dialect with clear markers: هسّا, إحنا, إشي and عشان, against هلّق, نحنا, شي and كرمال in Lebanese.
  • Write the whole script in real Jordanian; don't mix in Lebanese or translated formal Arabic.
  • A Jordanian voice pays off in local ads, e-learning and customer service for Jordanian audiences.
  • In Vocla, choose Jordanian in the dialect picker and a Jordanian voice from the Levantine voices page, then fix pronunciation before downloading.

Frequently asked questions

Does Vocla have Jordanian voices or just generic Levantine?

It has Jordanian voices and Lebanese voices, each tagged with its dialect. Both appear on the Levantine voices page, and you choose Jordanian in the dialect picker in Text to speech.

Does a Jordanian voice say ق as g?

Jordanians themselves differ: many say g, and many city speakers use a glottal stop. Write ق normally, preview, and if a key word needs a specific pronunciation, set it in the pronunciation dictionary.

Will Palestinian and Syrian audiences understand a Jordanian script?

Yes. Levantine dialects are easily understood across the region, and Jordanian is especially close to Palestinian. The difference is how local it feels, not comprehension, so local ads still do best in the audience's own dialect.

Can I use an AI Jordanian voiceover in paid ads?

Yes, on paid plans. Starter at $4.99 a month includes commercial rights, while the Free plan is for personal use and testing.

How many words fit in a 30-second Jordanian ad?

About 55 to 65 words at a natural pace with breaths between sentences. Check it with the voiceover length calculator or preview in Vocla and trim before downloading.
