Emirati Dialect Script Examples: Phrases and Copy-Ready Ads for UAE Brands
Emirati dialect script examples for UAE brands: a phrasebook of words that sell, copy-ready ad scripts with English glosses, and when Emirati fits best.
In this article
The Emirati phrases that work best in ads are short and familiar: هلا والله and حيّاكم to welcome, شحالك (to a man) and شحالچ (to a woman) to ask how someone is, وايد for a lot, مب for not, عسب for so that, تريّا for wait and الحين for now. Use them in short, clear sentences, and choose Emirati when the ad speaks directly to Emiratis.
01Why Emirati phrases work in UAE advertising
UAE ads compete for the attention of an extremely mixed audience. The quickest way to make an Emirati listener feel an ad was made for them is to let them hear their own speech. One word such as شحالك (how are you), وايد (a lot) or تريّا (wait) does in two seconds what a full formal sentence can't.
Emirati in advertising has its own rules, though: short sentences, a warm tone, modern vocabulary that younger listeners use, and forms that change depending on whether you address a man or a woman. This article gives you a quick phrasebook, copy-ready scripts for five use cases with English glosses, and guidance on when to choose Emirati over MSA or a neutral Gulf style.
02Emirati phrasebook for ad scripts
| Use | Emirati | Meaning | In a sentence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Welcome | هلا والله، حيّاكم | Hello, welcome | حيّاكم في فرعنا الجديد (welcome to our new branch) |
| How are you | شحالك؟ شحالچ؟ | How are you? (m / f) | شحالچ؟ عندچ دقيقة؟ (how are you, got a minute?) |
| What | شو | What | شو تنتظر؟ (what are you waiting for?) |
| Want | أبا، تبا | I want, you want | تبا توفّر؟ (want to save?) |
| A lot, very | وايد | A lot, very | عروض وايد حلوة (really great offers) |
| Not | مب | Not | السعر مب غالي (the price isn't high) |
| So that | عسب | So that | اطلب الحين عسب يوصلك اليوم (order now so it arrives today) |
| Wait | تريّا | Wait | لا تتريّا وايد (don't wait too long) |
| Now | الحين | Now | احجز الحين (book now) |
| Tomorrow | باچر | Tomorrow | العرض يخلص باچر (the offer ends tomorrow) |
| Yes | هيه | Yes | هيه، التوصيل ببلاش (yes, delivery is free) |
Two sounds set Emirati apart from Najdi Saudi. ج often becomes ي, so you hear ريّال (man), يديد (new) and يوعان (hungry). And ك becomes چ (a ch sound) when addressing a woman: عليچ, بيتچ. Use these sparingly in ads; one or two per line is enough for an Emirati feel, while overdoing them makes the script hard to read for both the writer and the voice.
Usage varies between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and the northern emirates, and between generations. Treat the phrasebook as a starting point and play the final script to an Emirati listener before publishing.
03Copy-ready Emirati scripts for retail and restaurants

Notice اليديد instead of الجديد (the new) in the third script: that one word gives the ad a clearly Emirati sound. If the voice doesn't say it the way you like, try the standard spelling and keep whichever sounds more natural in the preview.

05Hooks, calls to action and sign-offs in Emirati
Most ads have three parts: a hook that grabs attention, the offer, and a clear call to action. Here are short Emirati lines for each part to combine with your own offer:
- Hooks: شحالكم؟ عندنا لكم خبر حلو (how are you all? we have good news), تبا توفّر هالشهر؟ (want to save this month?), شو رايك نسهّلها عليك؟ (how about we make it easy for you?).
- Calls to action: احجز الحين (book now), اطلب من التطبيق (order in the app), مر علينا في [الفرع] (drop by our [branch]), لا تفوّتها، العرض يخلص باچر (don't miss it, the offer ends tomorrow).
- Warm sign-offs: حيّاكم الله (you're all welcome), نتريّاكم (we're waiting for you), نشوفكم قريب (see you soon).
Watch the addressee in each part. Plural forms such as حيّاكم and نتريّاكم suit general ads; شحالك and عندك address a man, شحالچ and عندچ a woman. For a mixed audience, the plural is safer than picking one gender.

06Emirati, white Gulf or MSA?
- Choose Emirati: when the ad speaks directly to Emiratis, for national occasions, and for restaurants, retail and real estate that want warmth and closeness.
- Choose white Gulf: when the same ad runs in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait on one production budget.
- Choose MSA: for formal notices, for Arab residents of many nationalities, and for training content.
- Add English: for most commercial campaigns in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, since a large share of the audience doesn't speak Arabic.
The difference between Emirati and white Gulf lives in the small words: شو, تريّا, مب and the feminine چ are all dropped in the neutral style. We cover when one Gulf voice can serve the whole region in a separate guide:
07Generating these scripts in an Emirati voice on Vocla
- 1Paste the script: on the Text to speech screen, paste any script from this article after filling in the brackets.
- 2Choose Emirati: in the dialect picker, then pick a voice from the Voice library that suits the message, lively for sales, calmer for real estate and notices.
- 3Check the special letters: listen to words written with چ or with ي for ج; if one sounds off, try the other spelling or fix it in the word inspector.
- 4Add your names: the mall, project or area name goes into the pronunciation dictionary once.
- 5Generate an English cut: for bilingual campaigns, write the English version in the same editor and pick an English voice.
Before generating, check that the script fits the ad length. This calculator estimates duration from word count and pace:

08Mistakes that make an Emirati ad sound borrowed
- Mixing dialects: a Saudi وش or a Kuwaiti شنو inside an Emirati script tells listeners the writer isn't local.
- Wrong addressee: a women's product ad written in the masculine loses half its effect; use شحالچ and عندچ when addressing a woman.
- Very old vocabulary: some heritage words are beautiful but sound odd to a young social audience. Use what people say in Dubai and Abu Dhabi today.
- Too many local markers: one or two per sentence is enough; the rest can be clear, general Gulf speech.
- Publishing without review: one minute with an Emirati listener catches what no list will.
You can try every script here on Vocla's Free plan with 500 credits a month; commercial use in a real ad starts on Starter at $4.99.
The Emirati described here reflects common urban usage in modern media as of October 2026; speech varies by emirate, community and generation. Check the final script with an Emirati speaker before publishing.
Key takeaways
- Phrases like هلا والله, شحالك, وايد, مب, عسب, تريّا and الحين give an ad an Emirati feel from the first second.
- ج as ي and the feminine چ are signature Emirati sounds; use them sparingly and check them in the preview.
- Emirati for Emiratis and national occasions, white Gulf for GCC-wide campaigns, MSA for formal notices, English for mixed audiences.
- On Vocla, pick Emirati in the dialect picker and write the English cut in the same editor.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most useful Emirati word for ads?
وايد, شحالك and الحين are among the most common because everyone recognises them. مب, عسب and تريّا give a stronger Emirati flavour, but don't stack them in one sentence.
Should I write چ or ك in an Emirati script?
Both spellings are used. Pick the one that makes the voice say the word correctly in the preview, and keep it consistent throughout the script.
Do UAE government ads use MSA or Emirati?
Formal notices are usually in MSA, while awareness campaigns that need a closer tone may use Emirati. It depends on the entity and its audience, so follow its brand guidelines.
Is Emirati understood across the Gulf?
Yes, Emirati is understood throughout the Gulf. If the same ad will run in several countries, a white Gulf style will feel closer to everyone.
Can I make the same ad in Emirati and English on Vocla?
Yes. Write both versions in the same editor and pick an Emirati voice for the Arabic and an English voice for the English, at the same credit rate.
