Quick answer

To change the voice in a video with Vocla, upload the MP4 or its audio to the Voice changer and pick a library voice in the dialect you want: your words and timing stay, in a new voice. Clean noise first with the Voice cleaner if needed, then swap the new audio in for the original in CapCut or any editor. It's included from Basic at $1 a month.

01Three ways to change the voice in a video

You shot a video and love everything about it except the voice. Maybe your voice doesn't fit the character you want for the channel, you'd rather not be recognised, a client wants a female voice instead of yours, or you're building a series around one recurring character. Re-recording isn't the only fix. Vocla gives you three routes, each for a different goal:

MethodWhat changesWhat staysUse it when
Voice changerThe voice onlyYour words, performance and timingThe performance is right, the voice isn't
New voiceover with Text to speechVoice and scriptThe pictureYou want to rewrite what's said or change dialect
DubbingLanguage and voiceThe picture and meaningYou want a version in another language

Most people asking how to change the voice in a recorded video mean the first one: the same words, the same laugh, the same pauses, just a different voice. It's also the fastest, because you don't write anything new.

02The fast route: upload the video to the Voice changer

You don't need to extract the audio first. Vocla's Voice changer accepts MP4 and WEBM files alongside audio such as MP3, WAV, M4A and OGG, as long as the file contains an audio track. Uploads are resumable, so a dropped connection doesn't send you back to zero on a large file.

  1. 1Open the Voice changer: choose Upload file and add the video, or record in the browser to redo a line.
  2. 2Choose the new voice: under Voice style, pick a library voice or one you made in Voice design.
  3. 3Set the dialect: in the settings under the voice, pick the dialect the new voice should speak.
  4. 4Tune the settings: Energy mode Normal or Boost, Consistency, Voice Match and Expressiveness.
  5. 5Check the price and convert: the credit cost is shown before you click Change the voice.
  6. 6Listen and download: the result lands in your history, downloadable as WAV, MP3 or OGG.

The output is an audio file, not a video. Vocla aligns the new voice to the segments of your original take, so it stays in sync with the picture when you put it back in your editor. Like the result? Save the voice and settings as a preset and apply it to every new video in one click.

Which settings? Energy mode Boost adds emphasis and suits reviews and ads; Normal keeps it natural. A more precise Voice Match pulls the result closer to the chosen voice, and higher Consistency keeps the delivery even from start to finish. Test on a short section of the video first, then convert the whole file with the settings you liked.

03Clean the audio before you change it

The voice changer works from your original speech, so air conditioning, traffic or room echo partly carry into the result. Cleaner input means a more natural new voice. If you shot on a phone somewhere noisy, run it through the Voice cleaner first.

  1. 1Upload to the Voice cleaner: it takes the same formats as the voice changer, video included.
  2. 2Set the strength: lower values blend in some of the original for a more natural sound; full strength removes more.
  3. 3Download the clean result as WAV: uncompressed audio gives the voice changer more detail.
  4. 4Upload that to the Voice changer: and continue with the steps above.
Tip

Upload the original file from your phone or camera, not a compressed copy saved from WhatsApp or a social platform. Every extra round of compression throws away detail the cleaner and the changer need.

04Put the new voice back in the video and keep it in sync

The usual worry is that the voice drifts off the lips. Because the voice changer keeps the timing of your original segments and the file starts at the same point, reassembly is simple. Here it is in CapCut; other editors work almost the same way:

  1. 1Open the project: the same source video you uploaded to Vocla, uncut.
  2. 2Mute the original audio: or detach it from the video and delete it.
  3. 3Import the new audio: place it on the timeline at exactly 0:00, under the video.
  4. 4Check sync: play the first and last lines and watch the lips.
  5. 5Bring back music and effects: if the clip had music, add it as a separate track under the voice.
  6. 6Export: with your usual export settings.
Heads-up

If you trimmed the video before uploading and then use a different cut in the editor, sync breaks. Upload the exact file you'll put the voice on, or change the voice first and trim afterwards.

If the video is longer than your plan allows, split it into parts in the editor, convert each with the same voice and preset, and place each file at the exact start of its part.

05When to re-voice from a script instead

The voice changer keeps your words exactly, which is both its strength and its limit. If the problem is the words, lots of stumbles, a wrong fact, or you want to move from MSA to Saudi Arabic, re-voice from a script in Text to speech: write the new script, pick the voice and dialect, generate and lay it over the video.

Modern Standard Arabic

في هذا الفيديو سأريكم كيف تحضّرون القهوة في المنزل بخطوات سهلة.

Saudi

في هالفيديو بوريكم كيف تسوون القهوة بالبيت بخطوات سهلة.

Both lines say: in this video I'll show you how to make coffee at home in easy steps. The catch is that a new voiceover won't match lip movement, because it's different words at a different length. It suits videos where nobody is seen speaking: product shots, screen recordings, scenery and slideshows. If your face is on camera while you talk, use the voice changer.

06When you need dubbing, not a voice change

If the video is in English or another language and you want an Arabic version, that isn't a voice change, it's dubbing. Vocla transcribes the speech, detects the speakers, writes an Arabic voice-over script in the dialect you choose, casts an Arabic voice for each speaker and exports the MP4 with the Arabic track, with burned-in subtitles if you like.

  • Voice changer: same language, same words, different voice.
  • Script re-voice: same picture, new words you write.
  • Dubbing: a new language, a voice-over script written for you, and a finished video export.

Dubbing has no lip sync; it's a voice-over on top of the picture. On plans with cloning, each speaker can talk Arabic in their own voice, cloned from the video with their consent.

07CapCut voice effects or a natural new voice?

CapCut has a free voice changer that's great for effects: upload the video, pick an effect like robot or chipmunk in the audio panel, and export. It's ideal for comedy and quick novelty clips. If you want a natural human voice that isn't yours, in Saudi, Egyptian or Emirati Arabic, reading your words with your performance, that's what Vocla's Voice changer is for.

Source: CapCut's official voice changer page, capcut.com/tools/voice-changer, which describes uploading a video or audio file, choosing an effect under Voice effects and exporting, as of October 2026.

Vocla's voice changer is on every paid plan, from Basic at $1 a month for personal use, and each conversion has a fixed credit price shown before you confirm. For client work or ads you need Starter at $4.99 a month for commercial rights, with files up to 10 minutes.

Key takeaways

  • Vocla's Voice changer takes MP4 directly and returns audio with your words and timing in a new voice.
  • Clean the noise first with the Voice cleaner, and upload the original file, not a compressed copy.
  • Mute the original, place the new audio at 0:00 in your editor and check the sync.
  • Use Text to speech for new words and Dubbing for a new language; commercial use starts at Starter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload a video straight to the voice changer?

Yes. Vocla's Voice changer accepts MP4 and WEBM files that contain an audio track, as well as audio files. You get an audio file back to swap in for the original in your editor.

Will the new voice match my lip movements?

The voice changer keeps the timing of your original segments, so it stays in sync if you place it at the same start point. A new script voiceover or a dub won't match the lips.

How long a video can I change the voice on?

On current plans: 3 minutes on Basic, 10 on Starter, 20 on Creator, 30 on Professional and an hour on Business. Split longer videos into parts.

Can I change my voice to a female voice in a video?

Yes. Pick a female voice from the library in the Voice changer and the dialect you want. Your words and timing stay the same in the new voice.

Does the voice changer copy my voice or someone else's?

No. It re-voices your speech with a synthetic voice from your Vocla library and never creates a copy of your voice or anyone else's. For your own voice, use voice cloning.
