AI voice for clinics in Arabic and English: IVR in your patients' dialect, general appointment messages, awareness videos, health ad rules and privacy.

Quick answer

Clinics use AI voice in three places: IVR, hold and after-hours prompts in the dialect patients speak; general appointment and preparation messages; and short awareness or introduction videos in MSA or dialect with burned-in Arabic captions. Two ground rules apply: never upload patient data to any tool, and follow your local health advertising rules before publishing any promotional video.

01Where AI voice fits in a clinic

The first voice a patient hears from your clinic usually isn't a doctor's. It is the phone menu, then the hold message, then the video playing in the waiting room or on Instagram. All of these change often: a new doctor, Ramadan hours, a new dental department, a seasonal vaccination campaign. Generated voice turns each update into a few minutes of work instead of another recording session.

  • IVR: welcome, menu, hold, after-hours and public holiday prompts.
  • Appointment information: general messages about arriving early, documents to bring, and following the doctor's preparation instructions.
  • Awareness videos: short clips for the waiting room and social media on prevention, healthy habits and services.
  • Introduction videos: a tour of the clinic, an overview of departments, and how to book in the app.

One clarification up front: Vocla produces audio and video files. It doesn't place calls, send patient reminders or store patient records. You generate the files, then upload them to the phone system, app or screens your clinic already uses. For small businesses more broadly, see our main guide:

02Clinic IVR in your patients' dialect

Someone calling a clinic is often anxious or in a hurry, so prompts must be short, calm and clear. Three rules: welcome in one sentence, put the most requested option first, and put emergency guidance at the start, not the end. Here is an example in Saudi dialect:

Welcome and main menuSaudi · ar-SA

Welcome to [Clinic]. If your case is an emergency, go to the nearest emergency department or call 997. To book or change an appointment press 1, for lab results press 2, and to speak to reception press 0.

997 is the ambulance number in Saudi Arabia; change it for your country and write it out as you want it spoken. For clinics with mixed audiences, MSA is the safer choice for the menu, with an English option:

After-hours message in MSAMSA · ar

Thank you for calling [Clinic]. The clinic is now closed; opening hours are Saturday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can book an appointment any time in our app. In an emergency, go to the nearest emergency department.

The hold message matters especially in clinics, because lines get busy in the morning. Keep it short and reassuring, and point callers to a faster channel if you have one:

Hold messageSaudi · ar-SA

Thank you for holding. Our team is helping other patients right now, and we will answer you as soon as possible. You can also book or change your appointment quickly in our app.

When hours change for Ramadan or Eid, you don't need to re-record the whole set: edit the hours sentence in the after-hours prompt, regenerate it alone, swap it in, and switch back when the season ends.

03Appointment messages: general, never personal

Many clinics want audio that helps patients before a visit: when to arrive, what to bring, how to prepare. The safe approach is general messages that apply to every patient, with no names, diagnoses or individual appointment details:

General pre-appointment messageSaudi · ar-SA

Welcome! Before your appointment at [Clinic], please arrive fifteen minutes early. Don't forget your ID and insurance card. If your doctor gave you instructions before the visit, follow them, and call us with any questions.

Heads-up

If your reminder system inserts the patient's name or time automatically, keep those details inside your system and generate only the general parts in Vocla. Never paste patient names, file numbers or diagnoses into any voice or text tool.

Medical preparation instructions themselves, such as fasting before a particular test or pausing a medication, remain the doctor's responsibility. An audio message reminds patients to follow them; it never replaces them.

04Patient awareness and clinic introduction videos

Short video is the most direct route to a clinic's audience on Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat, and on the waiting room screen. In Vocla's Video studio you write the script and pick the voice and dialect; the studio proposes a scene for each line, you approve them on a storyboard before rendering, and you get an MP4 with your voiceover and burned-in Arabic captions.

  • Awareness ideas: a seasonal reminder such as the flu vaccine, everyday habits such as drinking water in summer, ending with a line telling viewers to consult their doctor.
  • Introduction ideas: a tour of reception and departments, how to book in the app, and seasonal opening hours.

Saudi

Both lines say: did you know washing your hands properly reduces the spread of infection? Wash with soap and water for at least twenty seconds. Use MSA for content that resembles official guidance or serves many nationalities, and dialect for social clips that need warmth, such as a clinic introduction or a quick tip from the team. A short Emirati example:

Dental clinic introductionEmirati · ar-AE

Welcome to [Clinic]. We have a dental department for adults and children, with appointments that fit around work. Book in the app; we look forward to seeing you.

Heads-up

Never clone a doctor's or staff member's voice without their explicit written consent, and never present generated audio as a real recording of a specific person. Voice cloning is available on paid plans, and consent is part of it.

05Health advertising rules: what not to say

Advertising health services is regulated across the Gulf, and rules differ between countries and even between emirates. We are not a regulator and this isn't legal advice, but these published points help you ask the right questions:

  • Dubai: the Dubai Health Authority has issued standards for medical advertising content on social media that bar absolute claims such as the best, 100%, no side effects, immediate results and assured success.
  • UAE federal level: the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) offers a health advertisement licence service for health facilities, and states that its licence doesn't exempt advertisers from other authorities' requirements.
  • Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC: check the Ministry of Health's and your licensing authority's requirements before advertising any medical service.

Rules change, so always check with your clinic's licensing authority and medical director before publishing.

06Privacy: what never goes into any tool

  1. 1No patient data: no names, file numbers, diagnoses or person-specific appointments in any script you generate.
  2. 2No patient recordings: don't upload patient calls or voice notes to transcription or audio cleanup tools without a clear clinic policy.
  3. 3General templates: write messages that apply to every patient and leave personal details to your approved clinic systems.
  4. 4Internal sign-off: have the medical director or another authorised person approve every awareness or marketing script before it goes out.
  5. 5Keep a change log: save each published script with its date, so you know what patients heard and when.

07What it costs a clinic

Vocla bills speech by characters: Vox Prime uses 1,200 credits per 1,000 characters. A full IVR set of eight prompts (welcome, menu, hold, after-hours, holidays) is about 1,500 characters, roughly 1,800 credits, which fits inside Starter's 5,000 credits at $4.99 with commercial rights. Updating the Ramadan hours prompt later costs only its own characters.

Video needs a plan that covers the length you want: Starter for short vertical clips up to 15 seconds with a watermark, Professional for clips up to 60 seconds in 1080p without one, which suits a clinic publishing awareness videos regularly. One last practical note: most phone systems expect 8 kHz audio, while Vocla exports 24 kHz MP3 and WAV, so convert once before uploading with the free command shown on our IVR page.

Frequently asked questions

Does Vocla send appointment reminders to patients?

No. Vocla generates audio and video files, which you upload to the phone system or app your clinic uses. Sending reminders and managing appointments stays in your clinic's systems.

Should clinic messages be in MSA or dialect?

Dialect suits welcomes and friendly messages; MSA is safer for formal awareness content and mixed audiences. Many clinics combine them: a dialect welcome with an MSA menu.

Do I need a permit to publish a clinic marketing video?

In the UAE, MOHAP offers a health advertisement licence service and the Dubai Health Authority has standards for medical ad content. In Saudi Arabia and elsewhere in the Gulf, check with your clinic's licensing authority before publishing.

How much does a clinic IVR set cost on Vocla?

Eight prompts of about 1,500 characters use roughly 1,800 Vox Prime credits, which fits inside Starter at $4.99 a month with commercial rights.

Can we use our doctor's voice?

Voice cloning is available on paid plans, but only with the speaker's explicit consent. Never present the generated audio as a real recording of the doctor.
