Quick answer

With Vocla's AI music generator, you describe the track in words: the mood, the instruments (oud, qanun, darbuka, piano), the tempo and where it will be used. Pick a length from 30 seconds to 5 minutes and a genre such as Khaleeji, Oriental or Cinematic, and generate up to four tracks at once. Tracks are instrumental, music is on every paid plan, and commercial use starts on Starter.

01How the AI music generator in Vocla works

Every creator hits the same wall: the edit is done, the voiceover is done, and you still need music. You spend an hour in free libraries and end up with the same track you've heard in a hundred other videos, or a good one with licensing you're not sure about. An AI music generator skips that: you describe what you want and get an original track.

In Vocla, open Music & sound effects, write a description in English or Arabic, set the options and generate. The credit cost shows before you generate, and once a track is ready you can play it, download it or share it. These are the controls you have:

SettingOptionsTip
Duration30 seconds, 1, 2, 3 or 5 minutesGo a little longer than the video and trim in the edit
GenreKhaleeji, Arabic pop, Oriental, Cinematic, Lo-fi, Ambient, Jazz, Electronic and morePick the closest genre and leave the detail to the prompt
Number of tracks1 to 4 per generationGenerate several and choose
StylesStyles to include and styles to excludeExclude what you clearly don't want, such as heavy drums
PromptFree text up to 10,000 charactersOne or two clear sentences usually do it

Tracks are instrumental, made to sit under narration, ads and podcasts. Singing from your own lyrics is rolling out gradually and appears in the app once it's enabled for your workspace; until then, lyrics are saved as notes on the track's sections. Stuck for an idea? 02The prompt formula: mood, instruments, tempo, use

The most common prompt mistake is being vague: nice music for a video. The model has no idea what nice means to you. Build the prompt from four parts, in this order:

  1. 1Mood: calm, hopeful, energetic, nostalgic, epic, mysterious. One or two words.
  2. 2Instruments: oud, qanun, ney, darbuka, frame drums, handclaps, piano, strings. Two or three, not ten.
  3. 3Tempo: slow, mid-tempo, fast, or a rough number like 90 BPM.
  4. 4Use: under a voiceover, a 30-second ad, a podcast intro, a wedding video. This helps the model leave room for speech.

Tip

Ending with under a voiceover or for a podcast intro matters. A track that doesn't know it's a bed can come out busy and fight your voice.

Use the exclude list for anything that keeps creeping in. If every take has a big drum fill, exclude heavy drums; if it keeps going dark, exclude dark and add uplifting. Small, specific changes between generations beat rewriting the whole prompt.

03Arabic moods: oud, qanun and Gulf rhythms

This is where generated music beats global stock libraries: you can ask for exactly the Arabic colour you need, and Khaleeji, Arabic pop and Oriental sit right in Vocla's genre list. Here are prompts for common uses; copy them and adjust:

04Prompts that get refused, and how to rephrase them

The music model has content rules, and some prompts are refused. The most common reason is naming a real singer or artist, or a known song. When that happens you'll see a message that the description was refused, and no credits are charged. The fix is always the same: describe the feel, instruments and tempo you like about that artist instead of naming them.

Prompt that may be refusedWhyRephrase that works
Music like a famous artist's songsNames a real artistClassic Gulf tarab, oud and violin, mid-tempo and nostalgic
The melody of a well-known songA protected workA sad Oriental melody on qanun with soft strings
In the voice of a famous singerImitates a real personInstrumental, romantic and calm
The theme from a specific TV seriesNames a known workDramatic cinematic music for a family drama opening
  • Describe, don't name: classic tarab with oud and violin tells the model more than any name.
  • Name the occasion: a song for the bride and groom's entrance or music for a graduation works better than naming people.
  • Keep it original: the tool makes new tracks for your content, not copies of existing works or imitations of real singers.

05Mix the music under your voice

In an ad or a Reel, music serves the voice. Once the track is ready, download it and lay it under the voiceover in your editor. If the narration comes from Vocla Text to speech, both files are ready to go.

  • Keep the music low: clearly below the voice, rising only in the gaps between lines.
  • Match the length: a 30-second track for a 15 to 30 second Reel, one or two minutes for a short YouTube video.
  • Use the sections: the intro under your hook, the outro under your call to action.
  • Avoid instruments that crowd speech: sharp strings and loud drums sit in the same range as the voice, so exclude them if needed.

If you make the whole video in Vocla Video, the video studio has its own optional music bed that's mixed with the voice and Arabic captions into one MP4, with no separate edit.

06Sections, versions and sharing

A Vocla track isn't just an audio file. It's split into sections, such as intro, verse, chorus and outro, with timings on a timeline, so you know where to place your hook and where to cut. You can play from any section, loop one, and keep notes on each section for free.

  • Versions: every change creates a new version and earlier ones stay playable, so you never lose a good take.
  • Styles: add or exclude styles to steer the next generation.
  • Sharing: a private link for clients or teammates, with an optional expiry, that you can revoke at any time.
  • Favourites: star the tracks you like to find them fast.
Tip

Working for a client? Send one share link with three options instead of a pile of files. They listen and pick, and you revoke the link once it's approved.

07Rights and plans

Music generation isn't on the Free plan; it's on every paid plan. Basic at $1 a month is enough to try it for personal projects, but music made on Basic is for personal use. For an ad, client work or a monetised channel you need Starter at $4.99 a month or above, where commercial rights begin.

Each track uses credits, and the cost appears before you generate. If you publish regularly, budget music alongside voiceover and video from the same monthly credits.

08Track not quite right? Change one thing

The first track is rarely perfect, and that's normal. The trick is knowing exactly what to change, rather than rerunning the same prompt and hoping. A quick guide to the usual problems:

If the track is...Change the promptOr the settings
Busy and drowning the voiceAdd minimal and under a voiceoverExclude heavy drums and sharp strings
Too slow for a ReelAsk for a fast tempo or a higher BPMTry Electronic or Arabic pop
Too WesternName oud, qanun or darbuka explicitlyPick Khaleeji or Oriental instead of Pop
Sad when the ad is happyAdd joyful and upliftingExclude sad and dark
Ending abruptlyAsk for a gentle fade-out endingChoose a longer duration and trim

Since you can generate up to four tracks at once, try four takes of the same prompt first; one of them is often exactly right and saves you a full round of edits. If none work, change one part of the formula, mood, instruments or tempo, and go again.

Key takeaways

  • Write prompts in four parts: mood, instruments, tempo and where the music will be used.
  • Choose a length from 30 seconds to 5 minutes and generate up to four options at once.
  • Don't name artists or known songs; describe the feel and instruments instead.
  • Music is on every paid plan, and commercial use starts on Starter.

Frequently asked questions

How do I generate background music with AI for my video?

In Vocla, open Music & sound effects, describe the mood, instruments, tempo and use, choose a length and genre, and generate. Then download the track and place it under your voiceover in your editor.

Does the AI music have vocals?

Vocla generates instrumental music. Singing from your own lyrics is rolling out gradually and appears in the app once it's enabled for your workspace; until then lyrics are kept as section notes.

Why was my music prompt refused?

Usually because it names a real singer, artist or known song. Rephrase it by describing the feel and instruments, such as classic Gulf tarab with oud and violin. Refused prompts aren't charged.

Can I use AI-generated music in a paid ad?

Yes, on Starter and above, where commercial rights begin. Music generated on Basic is for personal use only.

How long can an AI-generated track be?

You can choose 30 seconds, 1, 2, 3 or 5 minutes. For Reels and short ads, 30 seconds is usually enough.
