Best Arabic text to speech in 2026: a listening test

We gave the same three scripts (a Saudi ad, an Egyptian narration and a Modern Standard Arabic news read) to three AI voice engines, published every take unedited, and had independent AI models check what each one said and which dialect it spoke. Then we compared six tools on the things that matter for Arabic content.

Vocla made this test, so judge it by the recordings: they are all on this page, unedited, and anyone can repeat the test with the same scripts.

The short answer

For Arabic content in a specific dialect, Vocla is our pick: in this test it read every word as written and spoke the right dialect in all three scripts, and it is the only tool here where you choose Modern Standard Arabic or one of 18 dialects from a menu with any voice, add tashkeel in one click and work in an Arabic interface. ElevenLabs matched it on accuracy and is the stronger choice for English and many other languages. Azure AI Speech suits developers who need per-country Arabic voices in a cloud platform.

Our picks

  3. 3 · Best for developers at scale

    Azure AI Speech

Listen: the same script, three engines

Default settings, one take each, nothing edited. Only the loudness was evened so no engine wins by sounding louder.

How we tested

  1. Three scripts written for this test: a Saudi ad, an Egyptian narration and a Modern Standard Arabic news read with English brand names. The exact text is shown above each set of recordings.
  2. Each engine read each script once with default settings, on 31 October 2026. Vocla: Vox Prime with library voices Fahad (Saudi), Omar (Egyptian) and Safaa (Modern Standard Arabic). ElevenLabs: Eleven v3 with its Brian and Rachel voices and the language set to Arabic. MiniMax: Speech 2.6 HD with its Arabic voices and Arabic language boost. ElevenLabs and MiniMax were called through fal.ai’s hosted APIs.
  3. Nothing was edited or picked from several tries. Every file was only evened to the same loudness (-16 LUFS), the level a Vocla download uses.
  4. Independent checks, with the vendor name hidden: Alibaba’s Qwen 3.8 Omni wrote down what each recording says, and we compared it with the script word by word (spelling-only differences such as قولّي and قول لي were not counted). Qwen and Meta’s Muse each named the dialect they heard.

What this test does not show

  • Three short scripts are a snapshot, not a benchmark. How natural a voice sounds is a matter of taste: listen and decide.
  • ElevenLabs also has community voices with Arabic accents in its voice library, and other voices of every engine can sound different.
  • Azure AI Speech, Google Cloud Text-to-Speech and Narakeet were compared on their documentation only in this round.

Questions

What is the best Arabic text to speech in 2026?

For Arabic content in a specific dialect, our pick is Vocla: in our listening test it read every word as written and spoke the right dialect in Saudi, Egyptian and Modern Standard Arabic, and it lets you choose MSA or one of 18 dialects from a menu, add tashkeel in one click and work in Arabic. ElevenLabs matched it on accuracy and is a strong choice when you also need many other languages. Listen to the recordings on this page and try your own text in Vocla’s free demo.

Which text to speech can speak the Saudi dialect?

Vocla has Saudi in its dialect menu along with 17 other dialects and Modern Standard Arabic, and Saudi voices such as Fahad and Noura. ElevenLabs lists Arabic for Saudi Arabia and relies on voices with a matching accent; Azure AI Speech has voices for the ar-SA locale. In our test Vocla, ElevenLabs and MiniMax all spoke the Saudi script in a Saudi dialect, judged by two independent models.

Is ElevenLabs good for Arabic?

Yes, it read our three scripts accurately and in the right dialect. Its documentation lists Arabic for Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with no dialect menu: the accent comes from the voice you choose. Vocla is built around Arabic, with a dialect menu, tashkeel, an Arabic voice library and an Arabic interface.

Is there a free Arabic text to speech?

Vocla’s demo reads up to 200 characters with no sign-up, and a free account adds monthly credits with no card for longer scripts and MP3 downloads. ElevenLabs, Azure and Google Cloud have free tiers, and Narakeet allows up to 20 files without a subscription. Commercial use usually needs a paid plan: on Vocla it starts with Starter at USD 4.99 a month.

Vocla made this test. Is it fair?

We kept it checkable: the same scripts, default settings, one take each, nothing edited, every recording published, and independent models from other companies doing the checks with the vendor names hidden. If you repeat it and get a different result, tell us and we will update the page.

How do I get the most natural Arabic voice-over?

Write the script in the dialect you want people to hear, pick a voice from that dialect, add tashkeel to names and words that can be read two ways, and keep sentences short. In Vocla the dialect menu, tashkeel and pronunciation dictionary handle these in the editor.
